Anthuriums are among the most rewarding indoor plants, producing waxy, heart-shaped blooms that last for months at a time. Our locally grown and imported varieties are hand-selected for colour, form and vigour. They thrive in warm, humid environments with bright indirect light and reward consistent care with near-continuous flowering.

Care

• Light: Bright indirect light — never direct sun which scorches the spathes
• Water: When top 5 cm of soil is dry; keep evenly moist but never soggy
• Soil: Airy, fast-draining aroid mix — potting soil with perlite and orchid bark
• Humidity: High humidity preferred; mist regularly or place on a pebble tray
• Temperature: Warm — avoid cold draughts and temperatures below 15°C
• Difficulty: Moderate
• Pet friendly: No — toxic to cats and dogs if ingested

Care tips

• Use a chunky aroid mix to keep roots aerated — never let roots sit in soggy soil.
• Empty saucers after watering to prevent root rot.
• Wipe leaves regularly to maximise photosynthesis and keep them glossy.
• Feed monthly with a phosphorus-rich fertilizer to encourage flowering.
• ⚠️ Keep away from cats and dogs — Anthurium is toxic if ingested by pets.
