Calatheas (often called prayer plants) are prized for their dramatically patterned foliage and their daily habit of raising and lowering their leaves. They thrive in bright, indirect light with high humidity and consistent moisture, making them ideal for bathrooms, kitchens and shaded indoor corners. Available in pots with multiple plant counts — the fuller the pot, the more lush the display.

Care tips

• Use distilled water, rainwater or filtered water — Calatheas are sensitive to chlorine and fluoride, which cause brown leaf tips.
• Plant in an airy, well-draining mix — pair our potting soil with perlite or coco coir.
• Feed monthly with a balanced liquid fertilizer during the growing season.
• Group with other humidity-loving plants or place on a pebble tray to raise local humidity.
