Monstera deliciosa is one of the world's most beloved houseplants, prized for its large, glossy leaves with distinctive natural splits and holes (fenestrations). A fast grower that becomes a dramatic statement piece over time. Requires a moss pole or trellis for support as it vines and climbs.

• Light: Bright indirect light; tolerates medium light — avoid direct sun which scorches leaves
• Water: When top 5–7 cm of soil is dry; well-draining soil and a pot with drainage holes are essential
• Humidity: Moderate to high; mist regularly or use a humidifier
• Temperature: 18–27°C; avoid cold draughts and temperatures below 15°C
• Support: Moss pole or trellis recommended as the plant vines and climbs

Care tips

• Water thoroughly, then allow the top 5–7 cm to dry before watering again — overwatering causes root rot.

• Train the stems onto a moss pole early — aerial roots will attach and the plant will produce larger, more fenestrated leaves.
• Wipe leaves with a damp cloth monthly to remove dust and maximise photosynthesis.
