Care

• Light: Bright indirect light — essential for maintaining leaf quality and encouraging new growth
• Water: When top 5–7 cm of soil is dry; well-draining soil and drainage holes essential
• Humidity: Moderate to high; mist regularly or use a humidifier
• Temperature: 18–27°C; avoid cold draughts and temperatures below 15°C
• Support: Moss pole or trellis required as the plant climbs
• Difficulty: Moderate
• Pet friendly: No — toxic to cats and dogs if ingested

Care tips

• Water thoroughly, then allow the top 5–7 cm to dry before watering again — never let it sit in soggy soil.
• Use a chunky, well-draining aroid mix — potting soil with perlite and orchid bark works well.
• Train stems onto a moss pole early to encourage larger mature leaves.
• Handle with care — as a rare specimen, any damage to existing leaves is irreplaceable in the short term.
• ⚠️ Keep away from cats and dogs — Monstera is toxic if ingested by pets.
