Care

• Light: Bright indirect light — no direct sun which scorches the blooms and leaves
• Water: Once a week; soak the pot thoroughly then drain completely — never let roots sit in water
• Humidity: Moderate to high; mist the aerial roots lightly or place on a pebble tray
• Temperature: 18–27°C; avoid cold draughts and air conditioning vents
• Soil: Orchid bark or chunky aroid mix — never use standard potting soil
• Difficulty: Moderate
• Pet friendly: Yes — Phalaenopsis orchids are non-toxic to cats and dogs

Care tips

• Water by soaking the pot in water for 10–15 minutes, then draining fully — never let roots sit in water.
• Feed with diluted orchid fertilizer every two weeks during the flowering period.
• After blooming, cut the spike above a node — a new spike may emerge and rebloom within 2–3 months.
• An east-facing windowsill provides ideal morning light without harsh afternoon sun.
• A 5°C night-time temperature drop in cooler months encourages reblooming.
