Protea Plant

A spectacular South African flowering shrub with dramatic, architectural blooms — a rare and prized addition to any tropical garden.

The Protea is one of the world's most striking flowering plants, producing enormous, cone-shaped blooms surrounded by colourful bracts. Highly sought after as a cut flower and as a garden specimen, it thrives in well-drained, slightly acidic soil with excellent air circulation. Each plant is carefully grown at our nursery and selected for vigour and bloom potential.

Care

• Light: Full sun — at least 6 hours daily
• Water: Allow soil to dry slightly between waterings; excellent drainage is essential
• Soil: Sandy, well-draining, slightly acidic — avoid rich or clay soils

Care tips

• Never use phosphorus-rich fertilizers — Proteas are extremely sensitive to phosphorus.
• Prune lightly after flowering to maintain shape and encourage new growth.
• Excellent air circulation around the plant prevents fungal issues.
• Ideal for elevated, breezy garden positions with full sun exposure.
