Satin Pothos

The Satin Pothos (Scindapsus pictus) is prized for its distinctive matte-silver and deep green variegation that gives each leaf a shimmering, satin-like texture. Despite the common name, it is actually a Scindapsus — equally easy to care for as a Pothos but with more refined, velvety foliage. A must-have for any indoor collection.

• Light: Bright indirect light; tolerates medium light — the silver shimmer is most vivid in brighter conditions
• Water: Every 1–2 weeks; when top 2–3 cm of soil is dry
• Soil: Well-draining potting mix
• Temperature: 18–27°C; avoid cold draughts

• Pet friendly: No — toxic to cats and dogs if ingested

Care tips

• Allow the top 2–3 cm of soil to dry between waterings — very susceptible to root rot if overwatered.
• Avoid misting directly on leaves — the velvety texture can trap moisture and cause spotting.
• Prune regularly to encourage bushy growth; cuttings root easily in water.
